The vibrant town of Dungloe is once again hosting its renowned Mary from Dungloe International Arts Festival, a celebration of culture, music, and community spirit.

This week, Caragh Ryan from Kilmeena proudly represents the Connacht region as one of the festival’s distinguished contestants. Hailing from Kilmeena, Caragh has worked as a special needs assistant and has been recognised over the years for her fundraising in aid of Western Alzheimers.

Caragh’s journey to the festival began earlier this year when she was selected through a regional competition at Gracie’s Bar in Sligo. The festival, which celebrates its 58 year anniversary this summer, attracts visitors from across Ireland and beyond. It features concerts, cultural displays, and the beloved Mary from Dungloe Crowning Cabaret, which has become a symbol of community pride and Irish tradition.

Residents across the west have been rallying behind Caragh, eager to see her shine on the festival’s main stage.

As Caragh Ryan takes to the stage, she carries the hopes and pride of Mayo and the wider Connacht region. The entire community wishes her the best of luck in her quest to bring home the festival crown to Connacht for the first time in the festival's history.

The final is on this Sunday and is livestreamed on the TG4 Player at 8pm. For more updates on Caragh Ryan’s journey at the Mary from Dungloe International Arts Festival, you can follow ‘connachtmary2025’ on Instagram.
