The people of Mayo have been invited to get out and get hiking on, as registration officially gets underway for the big hike in aid of the Cancer Fund for Children

The event, which aims to raise funds to help young people impacted by the disease, will take place at Croagh Patrick on Saturday, June 7.

Those who partake in the event will not only be donating to a hugely significant and impactful charity, but will also be rewarded with the glorious view from the top of ‘The Reek’ when they summit in early June.

The fundraiser also coincides with the start of construction of Daisy Lodge, a therapeutic short-stay centre in Cong for children from across the country who have been diagnosed with cancer.

Enda Kenny, former Taoiseach and the charity’s international ambassador, is well aware of the charity’s power for good.

“Cancer Fund for Children are world leaders in what they do, and their engagement with families having to cope with a childhood cancer diagnosis is extraordinary,” he stated.

“That engagement provides a legacy of happy memories and provides a wonderful human response in what can be very trying circumstances.  People understand this, and I know they will respond in a way that will again demonstrate Ireland’s ability to lead the world in response to these situations.”

Those who wish to register can do so here, with registration costing €25 per person. Those who sign up will also receive an iDonate fundraising page to help raise funds.
