A Mayo woman will paint former Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
It is the first time, the State has commissioned a woman to paint an official portrait of a former Taoiseach, as the Sunday Independent reports.
Hetty Lawlor will create a painting of fellow Mayo person Enda Kenny, the former Taoiseach and Fine Gael politician from Islandeady.

Lawlor is a former pupil of Sacred Heart School Westport:
"We are very proud of our past pupil, Hetty Lawlor, who has been commissioned to paint an official portrait of former Taoiseach Enda Kenny for Leinster House. A significant milestone as the first female artist to receive this honour," the school writes on their social media account.
"Hetty’s remarkable talent and dedication have seen her break new ground in the Irish art world and her achievement is featured in today’s Sunday Independent. Her success serves as an inspiration to our students, demonstrating the power of creativity, perseverance and ambition.
