Good news for Mayo students. The Sacred Heart School (SHS) Westport has received donations from SuperValu supermarket to support menstruators and set a sign for period equity.
The school writes on their social media account: "A huge thank you to Liam Campion and all the staff at SuperValu for their generosity in donating free period products to SHS. This support means so much to our students and is a big help to those who need it. Well done to the SHS Student Council for leading this great initiative!"

An article in Harvard Health Publishing by gynecologist Huma Farid stresses the need for such measures: "Menstruating is a basic fact of human existence. Menstrual hygiene products are necessities, not luxuries, and should be treated as such.
We need to address stigma around menstruation in order to understand and fix the challenges people face around access to menstrual hygiene products. Period poverty is real. Period equity should be real, too."
