It’s another weekend of wall-to-wall sport in Mayo, with over a dozen soccer fixtures alone to run the rule over.
Here, we’re bringing five events happening across the country and further afield. We’ll bring you the updates and reports as they happen here or in The Mayo News sports section on Tuesday.
ALLIANZ FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
Mayo v Tyrone
Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, Sunday at 1.45 pm
Kevin McStay and his side are in no doubt that should they fall to another defeat in Castlebar this Sunday, the prospects of playing top-flight League football in 2026 will look bleak.
Anyone in MacHale Park two weeks ago will be hoping that a significantly improved side emerges from the tunnel.
Tyrone will be travelling from the O’Neill County on the back of defeat to Armagh. A win will give Mayo a fighting chance of avoiding the trapdoor into Division Two.

ELVERYS SPORTS MAYO SUPER LEAGUE
Westport United v Manulla
United Park, Friday at 7.30 pm
The first match for Westport United under floodlights in Abbvie Park.
With reigning Super League champions Castlebar Celtic on the road in Super Cup exploits, it is imperative that last season’s second-place side Westport United make a winning start to the league have any chance of holding a candle to their rivals.
Judging from last season’s form, the Covies will certainly be the favourites. Given the defeats United have inflicted on Manulla, there’ll be no love lost this Valentine’s Day from the away side.
Manulla, who come into this fixture following an impressive 3-0 Super Cup win over Conn Rangers, will need to be at their best in United Park on Friday evening. New Westport manager Anthony O’Neill is facing a Manulla side that succumbed to 7-0 and 5-0 Super League thrashings United’s hands last season.

ALLIANZ HURLING LEAGUE
Mayo v Cavan
Tooreen, Sunday at 2.30 pm
The Mayo hurlers have made a strong start to their campaign, edging Sligo on the opening day of the season. Making the trip to face Ray Larkin’s men is a Cavan team looking for a vast improvement from what they served up against London in Ruislip seven days prior.
Liam Navin was red-hot in Mayo’s trip to Sligo, and if he performs again this weekend, it’ll see his team move into the chasing pack for promotion to Division Two and away from those relegation spots.

BANK OF IRELAND J1B LEAGUE
Westport v Monivea
Westport, Sunday at 2.30 pm
It’s a huge final day of league action in qualifying for the Super 4s for both teams. A win for Corinthians 2nds against a Ballinrobe side guaranteed Super 4 progression will see the loser of this game dumped out of the Super 4s altogether.
Not advancing will be seen as a disappointment for the hosts, who are aiming for promotion to make their centenary year.
Monivea triumphed the last time these sides locked horns in the Curley Cup final. However, that victory is long in the rear-view mirror in this crunch clash.
