There was a special moment in Dublin on Friday morning when Mayo All Ireland winners Jack Carney and Enda Hession brought the Sam Maguire Cup to Mass in Dublin as a large crowd gathered in St Patrick’s Church in Corduff.

Fr John Regan, a native of Kilmeena is the Parish Priest in the Corduff area and the proud Mayo man delivered a fantastic Mass which was full of charm.

On the morning, there was a huge crowd that gathered with some people travelling up from Mayo for the Mass. Former Mayo players Tom Parsons and David Brady were amongst the crowd as a heavy Mayo contingent enjoyed the special moment.

Towards the end of the Mass, two famous songs affiliated with Mayo were played live. First up, Lady of Knock was sung which was followed by a truly special moment. After Lady of Knock finished, the Green and Red of Mayo was played as Fr Regan, wearing his Mayo jersey, led the charge while Mayo players Jack Carney and Enda Hession walked down the church aisle with the Sam Maguire in their hands.

A special atmosphere was created and it brought joy to many while photos were taken afterwards and refreshments were served.

Kilmeena native Jack Carney is currently a teacher at the St Patrick’s School in Corduff while Garrymore’s Enda Hession was a teacher there in recent times.
