MAYO interest in the Connacht Junior Cup might be over before the semi-final stage after reigning champions Castlebar Celtic were beaten 1-0 by Colga FC at the weekend, but one Mayo man is still riding high in the competition.

Former Mayo League manager Joe Kelly has helped coach Moyne Villa side to the last four for the second year in succession after the Headford-based outfit defeated Maree Oranmore 2-1 in a thriller. They will host Salthill Devon in the semi-final in a few weeks time.

Under Kelly's watchful eye Moyne Villa captured the prestigious Michael O'Byrne Cup last season and are back in the semi-final of that competition again this season.
