A goal in stoppage time by 17-year-old Ethan Hosty settled a pulsating contest both sides wanted to win. Manulla and KKU have found it difficult to pick up points this season, and started the day two points above the relegation places, and for the last half an hour, it looked like this would end level.

KKU scored in the first minute, when their captain, Ronan Malee, found new signing, Conor Flynn, on the edge of the box. Flynn showed real quality setting up Hosty, who had two goes at it, after Manula ’keeper, Jack Teape, signed last week from Carbury, blocked the first.

Cillian Finn, on an excursion from the back, finished off a loose ball from Robert Jordan’s corner, to put the visitors two in front, and that should have been the match wrapped up.

But KKU dropped off, and, sensing opportunity, Manulla drove at them and were rewarded two minutes into first-half stoppage time when Joshua Webb capitalised on sloppy defending to reduce the arrears.

Manulla dominated most of the second half, and veteran, Matty Nolan, was gifted an equaliser after woeful KKU defending, an hour in. Hosty nicked it in stoppage time, to seal the KKU win.

Teape’s debut didn’t last the whole game – he got two yellow cards for sharing his opinions with referee John Mulroe, immediately after the goal. Gary McHale of Manulla and Brian Gallagher of KKU were also despatched in the dying seconds, for second yellow-card offences.
