What a great way to spend a Sunday morning.

This game had everything you could ask for. Five goals – one of them a contender for goal of the season – eight yellow cards, one red. It was end to end, with the lead changing hands and it was exciting. Plus, as to be expected for a Sunday in June, it rained or drizzled throughout.

Ballinrobe will be disappointed they lost this one. They went on top twice but just couldn’t hold on. They went in front on thirty-two minutes when Dean Shaughnessy finished neatly. Just after the hour, Jamil Kizzee equalised after KKU had a few attempts following a corner that Ballinrobe couldn’t clear.

Theo Bellanger hit a cracker from the halfway line to restore the lead, but KKU were back on terms two minutes later, when Ethan Hosty scored as Ballinrobe failed to deal with a corner. In another scramble, Hosty won it in stoppage time, to break the Ballinrobe hearts. Three minutes later, Town’s Jonathan Lawrence was red-carded by referee, Martin Regan, after picking up two yellows.
