Claremorris were three up at half time in this one and should have been out the gate.
Two goals from Mark Maloney and a goal of the season contender from Simon Butler sent the visitors to the dressing room totally in control of this derby.
Maloney was on fire on the wing and the three-man Kiltimagh/Knock United (KKU) defence was unable to deal with him.
KKU turned it around for a period of the second half when they switched to four at the back and introduced seventeen-year-old Ethan Hosty.
He tortured Claremorris on the right wing and suddenly the sides were level when Brian Gallagher got the first with a shot from distance, followed by good finishes from Jack O’Connor and Dylan Roche. That should have been the finish of it. Amazingly, there were four further goals in it.
Cathal Walsh got a fourth for Claremorris after they were afforded the time to have a few goes at it by the KKU defence.
At the other end, Jack O’Connor levelled it again and then Hosty - who was outstanding - got a fifth to put them in front for the first time. But it wasn’t enough.
When the ball fell to full-back, Brandon Walsh, few expected his strike from thirty metres to find the net to level it.
