In Ballinrobe

The turning point in this Super Cup clash came in the eighth minute, when Ballina Town’s Conor Gorman got on the end of a ball from Tiernan Tighe, to drive past Seán Shaughnessy in the Ballinrobe goal.

The score was significant because it came immediately after JP O’Gorman had expertly sent a penalty past Emmet Peyton to put the home side one up. Had Ballinrobe managed the lead, they might have stayed in this game longer, but that brief lapse in concentration, and possibly cuteness, meant that even though the scores were level, the game was over.

O’Gorman’s penalty came after Chris Moore had fouled him, in the box, in the opinion of referee, Martin Regan. Gorman scored immediately afterwards before Man of The Match, Dylan McKee, and Tiernan Tighe added two more before the break.

Ballinrobe can now concentrate on their Mayo Super League campaign while Ballina Town can concentrate on integrating their younger players and giving one of the cups a go.
