MAYO women Clara Barrett and Lily Brady played critically important roles as UL Bohs came back from the dead to beat Railway Union 29-24 in the Energia All-Ireland League Final in Lansdowne Road this afternoon.
Barrett from Geesala came off the bench and made a massive impact with her pace and power down the right wing in the second half as the Munster club sought their second title in succession. Brady from Westport was central to the action all afternoon from her position in the middle of the front row and popped up all over the pitch.
There was little or nothing between the sides throughout the game but Railway Union held a 24-22 lead as injury-time arrived.
Bohs launched one last attack and held their never brilliantly for Eilis Cahill to power her way over the line to win the game before Kate Flannery added the conversion to seal the deal.
Afterwards, Clara and Lily celebrated with family and friends at the end of a very special sporting occasion the Aviva Stadium.
