MAYO native Caelan Doris has captained the Ireland rugby team to hard-fought win over South Africa.
The former Ballina rugby player was sin-binned as a last-minute drop goal from Ciaran Frawley kicked Ireland to a famous win over the Springboks in Durban.
Doris was sin-binned in the 47th minute, but later returned to the play to help Ireland secure a hard-fought win in Durban.
The Number 8 won his 43rd cap for his country this evening in a game where Ireland led 16-6 at the break before their hosts came roaring back with six penalties in the second half.
South Africa were on track for a one-point win until Frawley’s drop goal won it for Andy Farrell’s men right at the death.
