On Monday, January 26, the Paddy Tally owned Sopelana recorded another victory as the Cian Collins trained horse secured victory at Punchestown.

Tally’s Bar Syndicate which involves Mayo GAA coach Paddy Tally and well-known Irish broadcaster Hector Ó hEochagáin own Sopelana who claimed victory in The Matchbook Betting Exchange Handicap Hurdle which went off at 1.40pm.

The horse went off at odds of 8/1 and this win sees the horse claim its third ever win after winning in Ballinrobe last July while Sopelana also recorded a win at Punchestown in November at odds of 40/1.

Jockey Kevin Healy steered Sopelana to victory as he finished 2.25 lengths ahead of the pre race favourite Bibe mus. Looking ahead, the trainer Cian Collins who is based in Meath said “She loves the heavy ground and it’s great get another win out of her. She did it very well and Kevin is great value for the 7lb. She might sneak into the Fred Winter (at the Cheltenham Festival) now. We might look at that if the ground came up soft."
