The AFLW star from Mayo has been included in the 21-player All Australian team ahead of the Grand Final.
Dayna Finn from Kiltimagh who plays the wing position for Carlton had her best season since she transferred to Australia for the 2023 season.
Finn earned a player-of-the-match accolade and helped Carlton reach the semi-final of the AFLW championship.
Dayna sent out a message on her social media: "So grateful for all the messages & people who have supported me throughout my career so far. Honoured to receive my first All-Australian blazer. Congrats to everyone, especially Harriet Cordner (Carlton team mate) and my fellow Irish stars!"
In each of her three years playing for Melbourne based Carlton FC, Finn improved steadily. And she had to adjust to a new ball and work hard on her kicking skills, to name one example.
In her first season 2023, Finn played five matches. In 2024, she doubled her tally to ten appearances, only to be a consistent performer this season, playing 15 matches for Carlton.
“My growth hasn’t happened overnight,” Finn admitted speaking to The Mayo News : “And it’s good to see that reward for the hard work that I’ve put in and the people who have helped me along the way.”
