President's Day: Next Sunday sees the last of the Majors for 2024 with (Patsy Noone) President’s Day taking centre stage. Since 2011 Patsy has been closely involved in Mulranny golfing activities, first as Captain and then as Secretary for eleven years. His efforts were recognised this year when he was awarded Connaught Volunteer of the Year, a great honour for the Mulranny Golf Club. Entries close for the 18 Holes stroke or 9 Holes stableford on Saturday morning.
There was an excellent turnout for the Kevin Moran Memorial Day on Saturday. Mulranny Golf Club would like to express thanks to the organising committee for donating the proceeds to the Club.
Results as follows: 1, Fergus Rothwell’s team (Dara MacDonnacha, Shane Rothwell) 27 nett; 2, Michael Joyce’s team 28 nett; 3, Stephen Barrett 29 nett; 4, Brian Gallagher 29 nett; 5, Alexis Loftus 29 nett; 6, Saskia Eland 29 nett; 7, Aodan Mac Suibhne 30 nett; 8, John Moran 30 nett. Weather onditions caused the cancelation of Monaghan & Sons, Castlebar Stableford Competition on Sunday. Maura Forrestal Chambers was the winner of the 9 Holes Seniors with 19 pts. The Jack O’Sullivan team will meet Castlebar in the Connaught Quarter Final on Tuesday next September 3rd.
Congratulations to Captain Aodan Mac Suibhne and Mick McDonnell who came third in the Holmpatrick Cup in Strandhill and will contest the final in Mullingar Golf on September 13th. St. Andrews awaits.
WESTPORT
Results for play in pink day. Winner: Fiona Conlon 34 pts. Other winners were Anne Kelly and Colette Fleming in the 18 h competition. Winners in the 9 hole competition were Lorraine Porter, Jean Mc Aleer and Anne Corcoran. The club thanks everyone who played golf, supported the raffle and donated to the fund. Proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Institute.
