Thousands of Bank of Ireland customers across the country have been impacted by a significant outage of the bank's mobile and online banking services.
A spokesperson for the bank has confirmed that its "mobile banking is currently not available" and that engineers and IT experts are working to identity and resolve the issue
"We are very sorry for the inconvenience to our customers. We are working on this as a priority," said the spokesperson.
The issue first emerged this Thursday lunchtime when users reported they could not log into the 365online app or the Bank of Ireland web portal.
Numerous customers have contacted the bank directly to report issues with some posting queries via the official customer support service on X, formerly Twitter.
"Who is going to pay for the diesel I just pumped?" asked one customer while another posted: "BOI now not taking transactions online. I got errors when paying for items online knowing I have a + balance on account".
Posting on social media, a representative of Bank of Ireland reassured customers that physical card transactions are not affected by the outage.

The bank says it is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible but that it's not possible to say when a full service will be restored.
"There is not an exact time frame for this. Rest assured, this is being worked on to be resolved ASAP," read a post on X.
