Man in 40s killed in tragic crash on M4 in Kildare as gardaí close road

A man has died after a two-car crash on the M4 in Co Kildare.

Gardaí and Emergency Services rushed to the scene shortly after 11pm on Wednesday night following the crash involving two cars on the M4 Westbound at Junction 8 at Kilcock, Co Kildare.

The driver of one of the cars, a man in his late 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No other injuries have been reported at this time, gardaí have said.

The road at the crash site has been closed, and local diversions are in operation.

Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested to examine the scene. The local Coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

"Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses of the collision to come forward. Additionally, road users with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, who were in the vicinity at the time are urged to provide this footage to investigating Gardaí.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Leixlip Garda Station at 01 666 7800, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
