Two men have been charged and are due to appear in court this afternoon in connection with a drug seizure with an estimated value of 32.8 million euros in Cork.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: "Two men, both aged in their 40s were arrested as part of this investigation have been charged and are expected to appear before a special sitting of Tralee District Court today, Friday February 23 at approximately 1.30pm."
Garda personnel from the Kerry Divisional Drugs Unit, Cork, and a number of other units were involved in the operation last Friday, February 16 at Cork Port.
Follow up searches were conducted in Kerry and Cork which resulted in the arrests of two men and the seizure of two firearms.
A Revenue statement said: "This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations involving organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs."
