RTE’s upcoming season to feature brand-new Irish drama

Michelle Fairly will be starring in new Irish drama Obituary

FOR their new season, RTÉ will feature 30 hours of brand-new Irish drama and over 100 hours of Irish children’s content.

The new season will see RTÉ deliver a broad range of unique Irish content to serve a wide range of audiences.

From impactful documentaries to national cultural events, climate programming, series reflecting real Irish lives with prime-time programming as Gaeilge, brand-new Irish entertainment shows, the largest selection of Irish drama and Sport, and a broad slate of content for Ireland’s youngest citizens, there will be something on offer for everyone.

The programme will include brand-new series Obituary starring Michelle Fairley, The Gone, Blackshore, as well as the return of Hidden Assets and The Dry.

Deputy Director of Content, Niamh O’Connor, said: “RTÉ is firmly focused on our core purpose of delivering a broad range of unique Irish content that serves the Irish public. Working with Irish creative talent both in the Irish independent production sector and our in-house production teams, we want to give the public the very best content that they deserve from their national public service broadcaster.”

She added: “Programmes that they won’t see anywhere else, featuring Irish talent, Irish culture, sharing Irish stories, connecting through our comedy, making national cultural and sporting events available to the widest possible audience live and on demand.  We are determined to serve the public and hope that this new slate of content connects and enriches people's lives, from tackling big issues that matter today, to the lighter side of Irish life and entertainment that brings us together, we’ve listened to what matters to our audience and hope they enjoy our new season of content.”
