ALERT: Status yellow warning issued for three counties with threat of thunder and spot flooding

IRELAND WEATHER FORECAST: Weather set to more unsettled for Bank Holiday weekend

Heavy rain and possible thunder on the way this weekend

Met Éireann has warned of possible spot flooding and risks of thunder, with a Status Yellow rain warning in place for three counties. 

Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal have had a Status Yellow rain warning issued from 9am until midnight. 

It is forecast to be bright and blustery today with sunny spells and scattered showers throughout Saturday. Some of the showers will be heavy, especially in the northwest with the chance of thunder and spot flooding.

Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees are forecast with with fresh and gusty southwest winds.

Clear spells and scattered showers are forecast at first tonight. Some of the showers will be heavy and possibly thundery in the northwest of the country. Later in the night, cloud will thicken from the south with rain developing in Munster towards dawn on Sunday.

Lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in fresh and gusty southwest to west breezes.
