A day of celebration for St. Louis Community School Kiltimagh as the senior boys team secured their first silverware since 2019. In a thrilling final against Galway team Coláiste na Coiribe the Mayo side defended a narrow 2-1 lead until the final whistle.

Kiltimagh made life unnecessarily hard on themselves squandering many promising goal chances in the first half, hitting the crossbar or the goalpost but nothing to show for.

And if the forwards can't deliver, it's always good to have a resolute centre back taking care of affairs. The boys coached by Ferghal O'Hara had several dangerous corner kicks and finally in the fourty-first minute one of them was suscessful:

Centre-back Padraig McLoughlin was towering in the air above everyone else when he headed the ball towards the corner of the goal and the Coláiste na Coiribe keeper even got a hand to it but couldnt prevent the net from bulging.

In the second half Kiltimagh's Chris Tarpey extended the lead twenty minutes before the end. But the opponents from county Galway would not give up easily and Daniel Hoare scored only one minute afterwards and even though Kiltimagh's nerves were faltering in the final minutes, the St. Louis CS boys got away with the win with lady luck on their side as a Colaiste na Coiribe free-kick only hit the crossbar.

A full report plus reaction from the Kiltimagh camp will be carried in Tuesday's Mayo News.
