PARKE secured a magnificent a comeback victory with a ten-point turnaround over Davitts in Ballindine on Saturday afternoon.

A superior final 20 minutes was key in Parke’s first round Mayo Intermediate championship victory as Davitts threw away an eight-point lead.

With Colm Boyle operating in the full-forward line and veteran midfielder Ronan McNamara playing in goal and contesting kick-outs, Davitts were the more threatening in front of goal in the first half.

A brilliant save from Parke’s Conor McDonnell was the only thing that stopped them raising a green flag when he denied Niall Treacy after a lovely Davitts move.

The teams were level three times before Davits pulled away in the 25th minute with three unanswered scores from Darragh McGale, and Niall Treacy (2).

Leading by 0-7 to 0-4 at the break, Davitts got the second half off to a great start when Jack Melvin found the net, followed by points from Niall Treacy and Dylan Gallagher.

This purple patch had Davitts ahead by eight points and firmly in the driving seat.

It was then that Parke enjoyed their purple patch with five unanswered scores, with veteran Simon Cloherty pointing within a minute of coming on as a sub.

Cathal Corless ended a Davitts scoring drought that lasted over 15 minutes but Parke finished strong with massive scores from Ronan Carolan and Simran Singh that saw them prevail by two.
