Darren Forde's emergency anaphylaxis kit, developed in memory of three people who lost their lives to allergic reactions, is now available with the newly launched nasal adrenaline spray in Ireland.

A Mayo man who created an ‘Emergency Anaphylaxis Kit’ has become one of the first in Ireland to supply the newly available nasal adrenaline spray as part of the kit.

Darren Forde, founder of Eco Powered Cabinets, developed the life-saving kit earlier this year in a bid to provide rapid access to emergency treatment for people experiencing severe allergic reactions and anaphylaxis.

The newly available nasal adrenaline spray provides a needle-free alternative for the emergency treatment of severe allergic reactions. The dose is administered by spraying the medication into one nostril. The spray contains epinephrine (adrenaline), which helps to open the airways and raise blood pressure during an anaphylactic reaction.

Darren said Eco Powered Cabinets was contacted earlier this year by the manufacturer ahead of the medication’s launch in Ireland, allowing the company to become one of the first to incorporate the new treatment into its emergency kits.

The unit, known as the EMK, was created in memory of Emma, Michael and Kathleen, who tragically lost their lives following allergic reactions.

The EMK is manufactured by Collins Plastics in Ballina and is currently patent pending.
