Four Mayo dancers to compete at World Irish Dancing Championships

The Cresham Academy will jet off Stateside

Four talented Mayo dancers from The Cresham Academy will compete in the World Championship of Irish Dancing in Chicago.

This Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne 2026 will take place from March 29 to April 5 in Chicago.

Seven excellent dancers qualified to attend, and the four who will make the journey are: Alannah Robinson, Westport (U-11 Connacht Champion); Chloe Albers. Westport (U-12 Connacht Champion); Theo Lam, Castlebar (U-13 boys Connacht Champion), and Adam McCluskey, Louisburgh (Senior Men Connacht Champion).

The three who qualified and will not travel are Cara Caulfield, Louisburgh; Alia Albers, Westport; and Ceola Forde, Westport. All seven have worked tirelessly to earn their place on the world stage.

The World Championships take place annually in Europe but are hosted by America every three years, and this year it is in Chicago. With travel, accommodation, and competition fees, the total cost is substantial.

To help with the cost,s some fundraising and fun events are being organised. Every contribution is very much appreciated, and there is a GoFundMe page here.

If you’re able to support in any way, please consider donating to the GoFundMe page or participating in one of the fundraising events.

Your generosity will help make a huge difference to these fantastic and talented dancers.

On Tuesday, February 13, there will be a Table Quiz in MacNamara’s Bar, Louisburgh. On Thursday, March 5, there will be a table Quiz in O’Malley’s Bar, Westport.

On Saturday, February 8, at 11 am, Grit Fitness and Dance in Westport will hold a Circuits Class, with the funds raised going to this cause. Lots of fun while helping great young people! Let’s come together to make this happen!
