Mayo SPCA welcomes €18,500 grant to support winter animal care.
The Mayo SPCA has welcomed a €18,500 grant from Mayo County Council - support that will play a vital role in helping the charity manage rising costs and continue caring for vulnerable animals throughout the winter months.
The funding will be used to cover essential expenses at the shelter, including heating, veterinary treatment, food supplies and critical maintenance, at a time when demand for animal welfare services remains high and costs continue to increase.
The Mayo SPCA expressed gratitude for the funding, describing it as a significant boost for the organisation at a crucial time.
“We want to say a huge thank you to Mayo County Council for the grant of €18,500. This is much needed and extremely welcome and will make a great difference to us here at the shelter, where winter tends to be a much more expensive time of year,” the spokesperson said.
The charity works year-round to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals across the county, relying heavily on donations and community support to maintain its services. The grant will help ensure the shelter can continue providing a safe, warm environment and essential care for animals in need as colder weather sets in.
