The Tochar Valley Rural Community Network, Inchanted Journeys, and Breiter Films today announced that the anticipated feature film documentary, Ireland West Camino: A Pilgrimage Reborn, will make its Ireland debut premiere screening at Mayo Movie World on Thursday, January 22, at 6pm.

A collaborative Irish and American effort to revitalize the Bronze Age pilgrimage route followed by St Patrick in the fifth century from Rathcroghan to Croagh Patrick, came to fruition in the summer of 2024 when 20 pilgrims walked the entire +170-km route over eight days arriving at Croagh Patrick on Garland Sunday with thousands of other pilgrims from around the world.

This feature length film (1.5-hour) documentary follows the pilgrims’ spiritual journey across the west of Ireland, on what was historically known in the early Christian era as the Tóchar Phádraig, as they are embraced by the rich natural and cultural heritage of counties Roscommon, Sligo, and Mayo. From iconic cinematography of the landscape and Trad sessions to local mythology and listening to the pulse of ancient sacred sites along the way, the pilgrims’ deeper calling to the ancient path is revealed in a powerful story of turning darkness into light.

A brutally honest prerequisite for the logotherapy of a well-examined life ~ Dr. Craig Straub, Ecological restoration specialist.

A gorgeous meditative experience that had me laughing and crying... instilling a sense of hope again in humanity. A must see and I am ready to walk ~ Chris West, NYC producer.

Premiere Screening: Ireland’s premiere screening will be held at the Mayo Movie World in Castlebar on Thursday, January 22.  Doors/Social: 6pm. Film 6:30pm. Admission is free, though a donation box will be available at the door. All are welcome.
