Danielle Caldwell and her fiancé David Kenny.

Two of Mayo’s top sporting stars have announced their engagement. 

Mayo Ladies captain Danielle Caldwell announced the news on Instagram that she and the Mayo hurling captain David Kenny have got engaged.

Caldwell from Castlebar who is a two-time All-Star with Mayo has been in a relationship with Tooreen hurler David Kenny for several years. A member of the Castlebar Mitchels club, Caldwell who plays in defence led Mayo with great passion and drive last season, while Kenny skippered the county's hurlers to the Nickey Rackard Cup Final in Croke Park. 

Kenny, is a prominent member of the Tooreen team who are in action this Saturday when they face Tipperary’s Upperchurch-Drombane in the All Ireland intermediate Final in Croke Park.

He has also featured for Aghamore in Gaelic football and in 2013 was part of the Mayo Minor side that claimed All Ireland glory. Three years later he was an important defender as Mayo won the All Ireland U-21 title.
