Ms Gallagher will be representing the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show, and the competition is being run to raise funds for Today FM’s Big Busk for Focus Ireland 2025.
The 18-year-old Leaving Certificate student in Gortnor Abbey, Crossmolina, was interviewed by Ian Dempsey twice this week in the build-up to the voting deadline.
She has been a regular fixture busking on the streets of Mayo in the last few years and has been writing her own music since the age of 12.
So far, her first three singles, ‘Messed up Love’, which she wrote aged 16, ‘Flames’, also released in 2022, and last year’s release ‘In My Head’, have all received positive reviews. On March 14, Joanne will release her next song, titled ‘Bye’.
Votes are made by donating five euros to Focus Ireland here. Voting closes at 3pm on Thursday, and the winner will be announced shortly after that on-air.
