Gardaí seize drugs in Mayo raid

Yesterday morning, Wednesday, December 11, as reported in The Mayo News, An Garda Síochána conducted an operation in Ballinrobe, targeting the sale and supply of illegal drugs.
Gardaí from the Armed Support Unit, Mayo/Roscommon/Longford Drugs Units, Garda Dog Unit, Garda Mounted Unit, and Garda Air Support Unit were involved with local Gardaí from the Mayo South Community Engagement area. A number of searches took place at several locations throughout the town.
One male, in his 20s, was arrested and charged with a drug offence and is expected to appear before Castlebar District Court at a later date. Separately, approximately €4,000 of suspected cocaine was seized at a residence and has been forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
Four dogs were rescued and taken into care by the Mayo County Council Dog Warden and are receiving treatment. A number of items of property suspected to be stolen were also recovered and efforts will now be made to identify their rightful owner. Investigations are ongoing.
