A major garda operation has taken place in Ballinrobe
A large garda presence, which included numerous gardaí, helicopters, unmarked vehicles, the Mounted Support United and dog handlers, has descended on Ballinrobe as part of a major policing operation.
It is understood that the operation began at approximately 7 am this morning. One local estimated that up to 40 gardaí were present in the south Mayo town during the operation.
Similar policing operations have taken place in Ballinrobe on a few occasions in recent years.
The Mayo News has contacted An Garda Síochána for a comment.
