BALLINROBE Community School’s gymnasium will be transformed into a Disney wonderland when their Transition Year students stage the musical adaptation of the classic fairytale ‘Cinderella’ this week.

Written by the legendary theatre-writing duo Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein, this musical recalls the timeless tale of love, transformation, and dreams coming true that has endeared Cinderella to so many.

Living as a servant for her selfish stepmother and stepsisters, Cinderella dreams of a better life. When the royal family hosts a grand ball to find a bride for Prince Topher on his twenty-first birthday, her Fairy Godmother grants her wish to attend, transforming her rags into a stunning gown and a pumpkin into a magical carriage. At the ball, Cinderella captivates the Prince, but she must flee at midnight, leaving behind a glass slipper. The Prince searches the kingdom to find her, and when the slipper fits, love triumphs, ending with a grand royal wedding.

Ballinrobe Community School’s production of Cinderella stars Derinn Kennedy (Cinderella), Roisín Webb (Roisin Webb), Rory Devereux (Jean-Michel), Shane Horan (Lord Pinkleton), Oisín Heskin (Prince Topher), Vilius Vainoras (Sebastian), Aoibhinn Cummins (Stepmother), (Rachel Gallagher and Chloe Webb (stepsisters).

Cinderella takes place in the Ballinrobe Community School gym on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, December 11-13, starting at 8pm.
