The Principals and Deputy Principals Association (PDA), a sub-committee of the Teachers Union of Ireland (TUI), is set to host its 53rd annual conference in Westport from November 20 to 22. This significant event will bring together over 120 principals from the Education and Training Boards (ETB) and other education sectors across Ireland.
The conference will take place at the Knockranny House Hotel, offering a blend of professional development and networking opportunities in a scenic setting.
Michael Murphy, Principal of Mayo College and current President of the PDA, expressed his excitement about the event: “I am delighted to welcome the PDA Conference to Mayo and the beautiful town of Westport. This conference is a fantastic opportunity for school leaders to come together, share insights, and discuss the pressing issues we face in education today. We look forward to an engaging and productive event,” said Mr Murphy.
The PDA Conference 2024 promises a robust line-up of speakers. There will be sessions designed to address the challenges and opportunities within the education sector. Attendees can look forward to keynote addresses from renowned experts including members of the inspectorate, Kevin Marshall, Head of Education at Microsoft Ireland, and GAA legends Cora Staunton and Johnny Cooper. The event will also feature panel discussions and workshops focused on professional development and leadership. The aim is to foster collaboration and innovation among school leaders, providing them with the tools and knowledge to navigate the evolving educational landscape.
In addition to the formal sessions, the conference will offer ample opportunities for networking and socialising, allowing participants to connect with colleagues from across the country. The scenic surroundings of Westport provide a perfect backdrop for these interactions, enhancing the overall experience for attendees.
The PDA Conference is open to all school leaders, regardless of PDA membership, and offers a valuable platform for professional growth and community building. With the support of the Knockranny House Hotel and the local community, the event is set to be a memorable and impactful gathering.
