'Buggy Buddies' initiative a 'wonderful opportunity' for new Mayo mothers and babies

Buggy Buddies, an initiative designed to support new parents in the community has quickly become a popular social gathering for local mothers and their babies in Mayo.

The programme, partnered with Le Chéile Family Resource Centre, Healthy Mayo and Mayo Sports Partnership, meets regularly in Castlebar, bringing together up to 15 parents each week - a number that continues to grow.

These walks offer a relaxed, supportive environment for new mothers to share experiences, offer advice, and enjoy some light exercise, all while the babies benefit from fresh air and early social interaction.

The initiative is seen as an essential way to foster connection and support among new parents, creating accessible and welcoming spaces within the community.

For more information on how to join the ‘Buggy Buddies’ programme, contact Le Chéile Family Resource Centre at 094 902 5126 or Mayo Sports Partnership at (094) 906 4360.
