Over €345,000 in funding for Mayo community organisations

Minister Dara Calleary confirmed the news

Minister Dara Calleary TD has announced that 20 Mayo community organisations have been allocated over €345,000 funding under the latest tranche of the Community Centre Investment Fund.

The Minister welcomed the boost for the local organisations who are looking to upgrade their facilities.

He commented: “This is a very welcomed boost for these 20 local community organisations who are seeking to upgrade and enhance their existing community centre facilities. 

“While relatively small in size, these allocations are nonetheless essential and present a fantastic opportunity for the successful applicants to carry out essential repairs and upgrades. The total investment for Mayo is €345,747.”

Minister Calleary is ‘very happy’ to support the Mayo applications, saying he will continue to support those who were unsuccessful on this occasion.

“Community Centres are the life and soul of our rural communities, they need support and deserve support and I am pleased to have good news for these 20 local areas at this time,” he concluded.

The successful applicants include:

 €13,405: Aghamore Community Development Company Limited  to fund installation of stage lights, blinds and a digitalised access unit in the Aghamore Amenities Building to improve services

€15,576: Ballindine Community Centre Company Limited to fund the installation of a lift to facilitate wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility 

€25,000: Ballyhaunis Community Council Company Limited to fund proposed refurbishment of the gallery area in the Community Hall 

€13,500: Brackloon & Drummin District Community Council to fund the upgrade to energy efficient lights, canteen storage, kitchen upgrades, hot water installation, dryline one external wall, repaint internal walls and install blinds to improve services 

€20,800: Burrishoole Community Partnership CLG to fund Acoustic Panels and Speakers 

€22,000: CLG ACLA Polranny Resource Centre to fund clean of gutters, soffits, and fascia, interior painting, replacement of showers, clean and polish floor, install insulated plaster board and plastering to community centre in Pollranny, Achill 

€18,702: Comhar Dún Caocháin Teoranta An tSeanscoil Community Centre to fund the replacing of doors, worktops, upgrading electrics, and installing curtains and blinds  

€6,365: Cushlough Community Centre Company to fund the upgrade of central heating system to improve the energy efficiency of the facility 

€15,982: Glenhest Community Council to fund the painting & varnishing of internal centre, installation of a new boiler, new clothes drier, and replacement of facia and soffits  

 €20,000: Inver Community Centre Inver Community Centre to fund a kitchen upgrade to Ionad Pobail an Inbhír to improve services for the community

€24,999: Lecanvey Community Centre to fund Insulation of External South/West Facing Gable 

€15,200: Magh Fhionalbha Community Centre CLG to fund the upgrade of the electrics and lighting in the centre 

€3,990: Manulla Sporting Club CLG to fund a new entrance door to the clubhouse to aid accessibility 

€21,490: Mayo Abbey Parish Community Development Company to fund the renovation of the community centre, along with the purchase of equipment 

 €23,750: Mulranny/Tiernaur Amenity Centre CLG to fund the installation of fire doors throughout the building, both internal and external

€17,000: Partry Community Council Company to fund the upgrade of toilet facilities in the Partry Community Centre to improve accessibility 

€17,262: Sean Duffy Community Centre to fund the refurbishment of ladies toilets and meeting room, automatic entrance door, and fire safety equipment in the Sean Duffy Community Centre, Ardnaree to improve safety

€22,973: Straide Community Development Group, CLG Straide Community Centre to fund significant improvement to the communal kitchen and adjoining dining room facilities 

€10,000: Swinford Community Recreation Centre to fund upgrades and improvements to the main hall: lighting, painting and coin meter 

€17,753: Taugheen Community Council CLG to fund the modernisation of the kitchen at Taugheen Community Centre
