Average Safety Camera systems on Mayo's N5 to become operational on Friday

Cars detected travelling at over 100km/h will be liable to a €160 fine and three penalty points

The cameras on the N5 will become operational next Friday.

The Average Safety Camera systems which are in place on the N5 and N3 will go operational on Friday next, October 25.

Vehicles detected driving in excess of the 100km/h posted speed limit will be subject to prosecution from 12 noon from this Friday.

The Average Safety Cameras on the N5 have been installed between Lislackagh and Cuilmore, Swinford. The Average Safety Cameras on the N3 have been installed between Kilduff and Billis, Cavan.

Prosecution of speeding offences take place by Fixed Charge Notice. The current Fixed Charge Notice is €160 fine accompanied by three penalty points. Further details of the Fixed Charge Notice system are published on the Garda website at www.garda.ie/en/roads-policing/fixed-charge-notices/
