A once-popular Castlebar establishment set to reopen, The Mayo News has learned.
Bucko’s Bar on Linenhall Street is to reopen as a licensed premises with a new tenant in November.
The pub has been closed since March when the previous proprietor, Pat Moran, decided not to renew the licence.
Bucko’s Bar takes its name from its original owner, Bucko Sheridan, and was a popular venue for music and darts and contained an outdoor and upper floor that allowed it to accommodate 80 to 100 people.
Local auctioneer and county councillor Cyril Burke said that the new tenant ‘has great plans in mind which will be revealed in the coming weeks’.
“We would like to wish him all the best in this new venture,” he added.
This comes following the opening of the Barrel and Castle on the same street, which has become a popular establishment since opening in March.
