The event will kick-off in Belmullet tomorrow
The location for Ireland's biggest Windsurfing event, Mayo Mayhem, has been revealed.
The event will take place tomorrow at Drum Beach, Belmullet.
The current plan is to run the full professional fleet first followed by the amateurs, with the first heat beginning at 8am.
Sponsored by RWE Renewables, the event is part of the World Windsurfing Tour and attracts the best windsurfers from around the globe who come to try their skills in the wild north Atlantic to secure points for the Windsurfing World Tour.
This event is always a visual spectacle, as athletes compete against massive waves in storm force winds. Competitors are scored on their extreme jump and wave riding skills which has spectators calling it a mix of surfing and motocross on water!
This year’s event sponsors, RWE renewables, share a passion for protecting the environment whilst harnessing the power of wind energy that is so abundant in Mayo.
