A new millionaire was made in Mayo yesterday as the online player from last week’s EuroMillions Ireland Only Raffle.

The delighted National Lottery winners visited Lottery HQ yesterday, September 20, to collect a combined total of €7,944,508 in winnings, including three online players, one from Mayo, who won through the National Lottery App.

Leading the group was a Dublin man who scooped the day’s biggest prize, a staggering €6,756,855 million Lotto Jackpot from the August 17 draw.

The second-biggest prize of the day was claimed by a Mayo man who won €1,005,000 in the EuroMillions Ireland Only Raffle on September 20.

The player, who purchased his winning ticket via the National Lottery app, described how a ‘quick pick’ on the app's shake feature led to his life-changing win.

"I just gave my phone a shake, and the balls spun around, randomly picking my numbers. It was the second shake that landed me the million," he laughed.

“I thought I’d only won €5,000 until I saw a picture in the news showing a person from the Lottery posing beside a ‘Welcome to Mayo’ sign with a €1 million cheque!” he added.

The man concluded: “I actually won a holiday just two days ago, and now this. They say things come in threes, so let’s see if my streak continues!”

The Mayo winner plans to spend his newfound fortune on a family holiday and his dream car.

Other winners included a Cork player who claimed €50,000 from a Bingo Multiplier Scratch Card, and a Dublin man who took home €132,653 from matching five numbers and the bonus in the September 21 Lotto draw.

Nearly 30 cent of every euro spent on National Lottery games supports Good Causes across Ireland, funding projects in sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage, and the Irish language. Since its inception, over six billion euro has been raised for Good Causes, including €259.5 million in 2022 alone.
