A little corner of Ukraine will be carved into West Mayo tomorrow when the local Ukrainian community gather to celebrate their country’s Independence Day in Westport.
Hundreds of Ukrainians who have sought refuge from the full-scale Russian invasion will gather at Scoil Phádraig on the Newport Road to celebrate their culture on Saturday, August 24, between 5pm and 7pm.
Ukrainian food and crafts will be on sale at the celebratory event along with entertainment.
This is the third such celebration to take place in Westport since the outbreak of the war in February 2022.
