Westport Estate has this morning proudly announced the commencement of development on its new luxury hotel, The Grace. Scheduled to open in early 2026, The Grace will replace Hotel Westport, which has been a valued part of the community since 1971.

Owen Hughes, Director, Westport Estate said: “For decades, Hotel Westport has been a pillar of our local community, providing jobs and opportunities for countless families. As we bid farewell to Hotel Westport, we celebrate its legacy and the dedicated staff who have shaped its history. We want to take this opportunity to thank the entire Hotel Westport team and the valued guests who have been at the core of its success over the years.”

Westport Estate’s new hotel name, ‘The Grace’ draws inspiration from two iconic women linked to the Estate. Grace O’Malley, the legendary Pirate Queen and head of the Ó Máille dynasty in the 1500s, symbolises the adventurous spirit and rich history of the West of Ireland. Meanwhile, Grace Kelly, the renowned actress and Grace of Monaco, who is a distant relative of the Hughes family, embodies elegance and sophistication. These figures shape The Grace's unique character, promising guests an unforgettable experience where history and luxury meet.

The new hotel promises to deliver an unparalleled hospitality experience that harmonises the rugged beauty of the Wild Atlantic Way with ultimate luxury. Guests will enjoy immersive experiences designed to nourish the mind, body, and soul, offering visitors a chance to connect with the things that matter most.

Leading architects Taylor McCarney, based in Mayo, are spearheading the design of The Grace. Their vision combines contemporary elegance with environmental sustainability, ensuring the hotel complements the natural landscape. Stewart Construction, a respected Galway-based firm, will execute the build. Development begins immediately, with a focus on creating a sustainable and aesthetically captivating environment.

The Grace is a key component of Westport Estate's ambitious plans to transform the area into a premier tourist destination. The Hughes family's vision encompasses a seamless blend of history, nature, and luxury, offering an immersive experience that promises to 'Awaken Your Wild'.

Future details on the development of The Grace will be announced soon.
