The Yoga Root in Westport is excited to announce the launch of their six-week Beginners Yoga Course, starting on August 14 at 6pm. The course, titled 'Intro to Yoga', will be held every Wednesday at 6pm and is designed for both complete beginners and those who wish to revisit the foundations of yoga.
Led by Derrick Harshberger, studio owner and a registered psychologist with over 12 years of teaching experience, this course focuses on the relationship between movement and the mind/body connection. Derrick emphasises the ethos of yoga while guiding participants through essential postures and breathwork that help reduce stress and anxiety.
Each week, participants will progress through fundamental yoga poses and breathing techniques, aiming to improve flexibility, enhance strength, and tune into their bodies for overall wellness. The course also delves into the scientific benefits of yoga, highlighting why it is considered a comprehensive mind-body exercise program.
Can’t make all the classes? No problem. Participants who miss a session can attend another class at The Yoga Root, with a limit of two make-up classes.
