Mayo hotel named Ireland’s most loved location by celebrities

The famous five-star hotel topped the list of Irish locations loved by celebrities

Ashford Castle

The Cong hotel came in joint first on Betfair Casino's list

Ashford Castle has been named Ireland’s most loved location by celebrities.

The luxurious Cong hotel topped Betfair Casino’s top 12 list of celebrity frequented places in Ireland.

The weddings of sports stars and actors always make waves across the Mayo village, such as Rory McIlroy’s 2017 wedding, where guests included Niall Horan, Stevie Wonder and Ed Sheeran, and 007 Pierce Brosnan’s lavish reception after marrying Keely Shaye in Ballintubber Abbey.

The 800-year-old castle and Forbes five-star rating winner is no stranger to famous faces gracing its halls and rooms, with Paul Mescal having spent a period there in 2021.

Whether it be their chosen location for a new film or they fancy an escape from the hustle and bustle, Betfair Casino has deep dived into celebs go-to destinations to experience a break from reality.

The popularity of each location was measured by a unique index score - based on Instagram hashtags, Google rating and excellent TripAdvisor reviews - with the lower the overall index score the higher the ranking.

In joint first position was the picturesque village of Kilcar, in county Donegal, followed by Galway City in second place.
