Man charged with burglaries of Ballinrobe shops and council offices

Suspect to appear in court in relation to Ballinrobe burglaries

A man has appeared before Castlebar District Court in relation to the burglary of two shops and county council buildings in Ballinrobe. 

John Joe Hopkins of Railway Hotel, Ballinrobe appeared before a special sitting of the court on Saturday evening, where he was charged in connection to the burglaries at Cummins Supervalu and Emo Oil filling station. 

Mr Hopkins was charged in relation to the burglary of county council offices located on Ballinrobe’s Kilmaine Road which occurred last week.

He has been remanded in custody pending an appearance before Ballina District Court on Friday, April 19.

A file has been prepared by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in relation to all matters.

A second man arrested in connection with the burglaries was released in custody pending a file being sent to the DPP.
