John Lynskey elected Mayo IFA boss at annual general meeting

John Lynskey is the new Chairperson of Mayo IFA.

The Mayo IFA Executive have elected their new County Chairman John Lynskey at the Annual General Meeting of the County held in Castlebar recently.

Mr Lynskey replaced Jarlath Walsh from the Knock IFA branch, who had completed his four year term this February. Mr Walsh thanked the members of Mayo IFA for entrusting him with the Honorary position since 2020 and he also thanked the county officers who had worked tirelessly on behalf of the members during that period.

Mr Lynskey, who is from the Hollymount IFA branch, farms on the Galway Mayo border in Carras, Hollymount where he runs a beef, sheep and tillage enterprise. Mr Lynskey also operates a successful farm contractor business.

The former National Chairman of the IFA’s Sheep Committee is no stranger to IFA leadership and is currently Chairman of the South Mayo Sheep Producers Group. Mr Lynskey is also a committee member of Tuam Livestock Co Op Mart.

In his address to the Mayo Executive AGM, Mr Lynskey thanked the IFA branches in Mayo for their support and he hoped he wouldn’t let the farmers of the county down during his tenure. He also praised the newly elected IFA President Francie Gorman in his elevation to the post.
