THE late James Moyles has been laid to rest following his passing in a tragic road accident.

The 33-year-old Ballina native was crossing the road on Lord Edward Street in Ballina with his niece when they were struck by a passing car.

James subsequently died from his injuries while his niece was discharged from hospital.

His Requiem Mass took place this morning followed by burial at Leigue Cemetery, in Ballina.

A garda investigation into the tragedy remains ongoing.

Local county councillor Mark Duffy told The Mayo News that the tragedy had evoked ‘an outpouring of grief’ in Ballina.

Cllr Duffy also paid tribute to the local community who rallied to help the man following the incident.

James is predeceased by his grandparents Mary and Val Moyles, James and Margaret Hyland and by his godmother, Ann O’Reilly.

He is the beloved son of Michael and Ann, dear brother of Mary, Michelle, Sean, and Shane. He will be sadly missed by his parents, siblings, his adored nieces Mia and Croía, brother-in-law Ronan, aunts, uncles, relatives, neighbours, and his large circle of friends.

May he rest in peace.
