LOUISBURGH Foróige club was recognised for their commitment to active citizenship in their community at an event recently held in Kiltimagh.

Louisburgh Foróige took on the community garden citizen project last September and planted seeds, bulbs and plants and watch them grow and looked. Their garden produced vibrant colours for all the community to enjoy throughout the year.

They added to the community garden a garden bench with all their signed names on it and presented it to Fr. Mattie Long on May 23 at an official opening. The members really enjoyed working on the project and learned so much from it.

In September 2023, the now second years have handed this project over for the first years of 2023/2024 to nurture and expand.

Good luck to them all and its so nice to see the young people so involved in their community.

The club has been running since 1962. The ‘70-‘71 club was the first county Mayo club to ever win a citizenship award.
