Gardaí foil early morning break-in in Ballinrobe

Gardaí in Ballinrobe foiled an attempted break-in in the early hours of this morning when they arrested three men at a shop on New Street in the south Mayo town.
The Gardaí were alerted to the attempted break-in at 4.30am and on arrival at the shop they arrested three men who were attempting to gain access to the premises.
Items from the shop which had already been removed by the three men were recovered and gardaí are now preparing a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions.


House prices in Mayo drop by over a third

The average price of a three bed semi-detached house in Mayo has dropped over a third since prices were at their peak. Figures released this week by property website, MyHome.ie have shown that a three bed semi-detached house in Mayo has fallen 34 percent in price, with the average price now as low as €189,965.


Mayo roads in a ‘terrible state’ - Ring

Local Authority bosses have been asked to bring road networks in Mayo up to standard after the harsh winter which has left them in a 'terrible state'. The call has come from the Fine Gael Deputy Michael Ring, who has said motorists were having their vehicles destroyed because of the potholed condition of most routes
"I am calling on Mayo County Council to immediately start the Roadworks Scheme in view of the heavy rains which we experienced over the past few days which has only compounded the problem and led to further eroding of the road surfaces,” said the Westport based deputy.
