THE tenth count in the Galway West constituency has seen FG’s Hildegarde Naughton steal a march on party colleague John O’Mahony.
Following the distribution of unsuccessful Labour candidate Derek Nolan’s votes, Naughton received 785 transfers, putting her at 6,083. This welcomed boost for Naughton sees her widen the previous gap between her votes and those of running mate O’Mahony from 76 votes to 1,252. O’Mahony stands at 5,551.
The rest of the lineup sees Independent Catherine Connolly also benefit greatly from transfers going to 7,123, overtaking Trevor O’Clochartaigh on 6,833. Fine Gael’s Sean Kyne is on 7,201, Fianna Fail’s John Connolly is holding out on 5,059 and Social Democrat Niall O’Tuathaill is at 5,269.
