No white smoke in Galway West as O’Cuiv awaits 690 votes in the seventh and final count of the night

There is yet to be white smoke in the Galway West constituency as the sixth and penultimate of the night fails to elect a candidate.
Returning officer Marian Chambers Higgins announced after the sixth count in which Hildegarde Naughton overtook FG colleague John O’Mahony, that the seventh count will be the last of the night. Naughton received 205 transfers from eliminated candidate Fidelma Healy-Eames.
Naughton now stands at 4,964 while O’Mahony is on 4,915. Eamon O’Cuiv is still awaiting 690 transfers in order to reach the quota of 10,712. The rest of the pack consists of Independent Noel Grealish on 7,945, Sean Kyne (6,355), Trevor O’Clochartaigh (SF) 6,162, C Connolly (Ind) 5,450, J Connolly (FF) 4,160, O’Tuathaill (SD) 3,850, Nolan (Lab) 3,380, Hoade (FF) 2,636, Cubbard (Ind) 2,390.
Green Party candidate Seamus Sheridan was eliminated in the sixth count and his transfers of 1,813 will now be distributed in the final count of the night.
